Confirmation Marking the next link in our community's covenant with GodReligious and personal growth extends beyond bar or bat-mitzvah.
Students study directly with Rabbi Larry Raphael, Rabbi Julie Saxe-Taller and Cantor Rita Glassman. Through their studies, including an in-depth look at one of the Ten Commandments, the students begin to develop their own ethical guidelines, coming to understand that as Jews we have ethical obligations. To reinforce the concept, confirmation-class parents prepare ethical wills to share with their children before confirmation. The highlight of the confirmation year is the Confirmation Shabbat service held on or near Shavuot, which commemorates receiving the Ten Commandments at Sinai. The students write and lead the moving service. Making their studies relevant to their lives, they share their views on the commandments and present personal 11th Commandments during the service.
