Volunteer Opportunity — Teach a Child To Read

The Social Action Committee announces a renewed partnership between Congregation Sherith Israel and the Jewish Coalition for Literacy (JCL).

The JCL, a joint project of the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Jewish Community Federation, recruits and trains volunteers to become reading tutors in the San Francisco Bay Area's under-resourced elementary schools.

Volunteers from Sherith Israel will be paired with at-risk children at the Tenderloin Community School, providing the confidence and strategies that will help them develop literacy fluency and a love of learning.

Bonus: No Meetings ... and Free Parking in the school's underground garage! The only requirements are an open heart and an hour per week.

We hope you'll consider this wonderful opportunity to make an enormous difference in a child's life. For more information, please contact Janet Parker (282-1495; ) or Sandy Kovtun (661-3954; ). Thank you.
