Shavuot & Confirmation We joyously celebrate the giving of the TorahShavuot  We celebrate both the first fruits of the spring harvest and the giving of the Torah on Sinai. Our morning Yizkor (memorial) service begins with a traditional dairy breakfast — bagels and cream cheese, blintzes, fruit — followed by the Shacharit (morning) service in our dome. Yes, you can actually climb up there and look down on the sanctuary. Then we descend to the sanctuary for Yizkor and memories of our departed loved ones. Get more background on Shavuot. Confirmation Each year, we confirm our 10th-grade students during the Shabbat morning service closest to Shavuot, which celebrates the giving of the Ten Commandments.
