Most people associate Wyatt Earp and Josephine Marcus Earp with the town of Tombstone, Arizona, and the famous and controversial shootout in Tombstone, Arizona. But this adventurous pair lived in many other places.
Josephine moved to San Francisco from New York as a child, and Wyatt lived here with his brothers and later with Josephine. There are many stories associated with the pair connected to friends and family in San Francisco and other parts of the Bay Area. Theirs is the most visited grave in Colma.
Judi Leff is a San Francisco native who is on the board of the San Francisco History Association. Judi began working in local radio and then shifted her career to the SF Jewish Community Federation. She eventually landed at Temple Emanu-El in the Richmond District, where she was director of operations, and also ran concerts, programs, and exhibits for 16 years.
Judi now teaches current events, history, and memoir writing to older adults. Judi is also on the Congregation Emanu-El Cemetery Committee and the Joint Management Committee for Home of Peace, Hills of Eternity, and Salem cemeteries.
