Annual Membership Donation
Members are asked to support our community financially so that we can continue to thrive as a community. If we each do our part Sherith Israel will continue to stand at the forefront of Jewish life in San Francisco for decades to come.
To sustain our community, we have established expectations for annual membership commitments:
- Couples and Families: $2,950
- Individuals: $2,150
- Household that is already affiliated with another synagogue: $1,500

Many of you, however, make a practice of donating more than the suggested amount each year to ensure Sherith Israel’s fiscal health. We are beyond grateful for that continued support. Contributions above and beyond requested dues not only keep the lights on but also keep Sherith Israel membership available to all congregants regardless of family income. We are committed to maintaining membership for all in our community regardless of their ability to pay full dues.
To thank our generous donors, and to encourage others to join them, we have four recognition levels based on your total contribution—dues and Annual Fund—please indicate how you would want to divide your donation between dues and annual fund:
- Sustaining Member: $4,500 - 5,999. Your gift represents roughly the cost of CSI’s expenses per household.
- Mensch Member: $6,000 - $11,999. Your contribution helps defray the costs of those who are not able to contribute at the sustaining level.
- Building Member: $12,000 - $17,999. Your donation helps us develop new initiatives to meet new challenges.
- Benefactor Member: $18,000 and up. Your support above and beyond supercharges innovative initiatives and capabilities.
We understand that some members cannot contribute at these levels and others are able to give significantly more. We encourage all potential members to discuss their contribution with our Executive Director. Everyone is welcome regardless of financial resources.

We ask all congregants to participate in our Annual Fund, which supplements our membership commitment to support all of our programming and services.
