Conversation from the Front Line: Emergency Response Effort in Ukraine
Monday, April 11, 2022 • 10 Nisan 5782
12:00 PM - 1:00 PMZoomJoin us online for a special frontline discussion hosted by Rabbi Jessica Zimmerman Graf with Erez Eshel and Yaron Eppel of the Ein Prat/Lev Echad organization, a delegation of professional volunteers working inside Ukraine and along the Polish/Ukranian border. Ein Prat/Lev Echad is sending 40 groups of professional volunteers to continue running the "One Heart Ukraine" (Lev Echad Ukraine) which trains and mobilizes Ukrainians to operate as successful civilian volunteers during emergency situations. Once mobilized, these volunteers will assist rescuing Jews and Israelis who are stranded and seeking shelter and safety as well as Ukrainians who need rescuing. Volunteers will also provide additional humanitarian aid along the border for refugees crossing into Poland and aid migration to Israel.
Our discussion will include testimonies from the Polish/Ukranian border, where Israeli and Ukraine leadership academies students will share their mutual experiences.

Erez Eshel is a thought leader, educator, and past commander of IDF Special Forces. He has identified and sought to address troubling ruptures in Israeli society even before they were more broadly recognized. In 2001 Erez established the Ein Prat Academy for Leadership, which is laser-focused on investing in the young adults who will shape the future of Israeli society and the Jewish people.
Erez and his colleagues have long recognized the vital need for strategic, methodical and soulful programs to cultivate young leaders.
Ein Prat programs have grown and expanded over the years—and in 2021 Ein Prat celebrated its twentieth year. Today there are more than one thousand alumni, men and women, who are leaders in public life, social ventures and strengthening struggling communities in Israel’s peripheries. Among leaders who have been mentored by Ein Prat founder Erez Eshel are current Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennet and Knesset members Ayelet Shaked, Yehiel Moshe "Hili" Tropper, and Amichai Chikli.
In addition to sitting on the Board of Governors of Yad Vashem; The World Holocaust Remembrance Center, Erez also founded Lev Echad - One Heart volunteer program which mobilizes in times of crisis.
Erez lives in Kfar Adumim with his wife, Liat, and their 6 children.

Join Rabbi Julie Saxe-Taller and members of Sherith Israel to learn a framework for understanding the role of antisemitism in our society and to build our capacity to address it together.
