Bennett G. Zier, MD is a graduate of State University of New York at Buffalo (’71) and University of California San Francisco Primary Care Internal Medicine Residency (’75 ). Dr. Zier is Board Certified both in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine.
He is a Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at UCSF. He is on the active staff at San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (Jewish Home of San Francisco). He has formerly served as the chairperson of the Bioethics Committee at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Dr. Zier is currently Chief of Staff as well as Medical Director of the Short Term and Rehabiltation Unit at the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living. He is a member of The Society for Post-Acute and Long- Term Care Medicine and the American Geriatrics Society. He has a number of publications in medical journals regarding General Internal medicine and Geriatrics.
Valerie Flaherman, MD, MPH, is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of California San Francisco. Board certified in Pediatrics and Preventive Medicine and as an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, she is Director of the Newborn Nursery at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital and provides general pediatric care and lactation support. Dr. Flaherman’s clinical research program focuses on early newborn health, growth and development.
Dr. Jonathan Graf is a professor of medicine at the University of California at San Francisco and a practicing internist and rheumatologist at Zuckerberg San Francisco General and UCSF Medical Centers. He specializes in autoimmune and rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and is the director of the UCSF Rheumatoid Arthritis cohort. His research focuses in part on rheumatoid arthritis and the relationship between chronic inflammation and heart disease. He also studies biomarkers and precision guided therapy in the treatment of autoimmune diseases. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, where he also received a medical degree. He did his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in rheumatology at UCSF and joined the faculty in 2003. He has won numerous UCSF teaching awards and been elected a UCSF Department of Medicine Master Clinician. He is married to Rabbi Jessica Zimmerman Graf.
