Hebrew School, grades 3–6

Tuesdays, 4–5:45 pm or Sundays, 12:30–2 pm

Our Hebrew program creates prayer literacy, enabling students to participate in and lead religious services, as well as prepare to learn basic Modern Hebrew.

Alef—Grade 3

Basics of the alef-bet and verbal facility with simple spoken Hebrew. Students learn numbers, colors, common Hebrew phrases, and simple conversation through games and music in an interactive format.

Bet–Grade 4

By the end of the year, students can identify all letters, vowels, and many words of the Hebrew language relating to the prayer book.

Gimel–Grade 5

Students begin basic reading of Hebrew prayers. They also get comfortable leading services and understanding the general themes of the Siddur.

Dalet–Grade 6

Students focus on reading all of the prayers required for b’nai mitzvah. They also learn how to lead weekly services in the Religious School.
