Martin Weiner Memorial Lecture with Rabbi John Rosove + Kabbalat Shabbat
Friday, May 20, 2022 • 19 Iyar 5782
6:00 PM - 9:30 PMKabbalat Shabbat: 6 pm; Dinner: 7:30; Lecture: 8 pm
During Kabbalat Shabbat services (6 pm) Rabbi Rosove will offer a tribute to Rabbi Marty Weiner, z''l, who was a mentor and dear friend for 40 years.
During the dinner, the general theme for Rabbi Rosove's talk is "Why Israel Matters." He will speak personally to the questions, doubts, struggles, and need for liberal and progressive American Jews of all ages (especially our young people) to understand our relationship with the State of Israel as a democratic and Jewish State and as an occupying power, and why our relationship with Israel is so important for our American Jewish future and for the future of the Jewish people. Israel is, in Rabbi Rosove's view, the greatest accomplishment of the Jewish people in 2000 years, and he will attempt to explain why.

Our teens have the unique opportunity for dining & dialogue with our Rabbis. These dinners provide a deeper connection with our Rabbis and a chance to explore Judaism’s perspective on topics that interest them. Last year, “relationships” emerged as their theme; courage when dealing with moral problems that teens face, loneliness, navigating friendships, and asking for forgiveness in relationships were just a few things they discussed. Friday night Teens @ Studio dinners are from 6:00-8:30 pm, immediately following our community Kabbalat Shabbat service. -
