Celebrate Shabbat with guest speaker Tricia Hellman Gibbs, co-founder of the San Francisco Free Clinic. Her D'var Torah, Tazria Metzora: On sliding scales, rashes, and healthcare in the USA, will connect the week's Torah portion to the modern challenges to accessible healthcare. 

After services, join us for dinner when Tricia will deliver a talk on The Wisdom of Rabbi Tarfon and the past, present, and future of the San Francisco Free Clinic

Rabbi Tarfon used to say (Avot 2:17): "It is not your responsibility to finish the work, but neither are you free to desist from it." This has been a guiding principle in Tricia's approach to the care of the Bay Area’s uninsured, and she will discuss the history of the San Francisco Free Clinic, how it started, and how they have adjusted to the evolving challenges of the uninsured over time.
