How American Jewish Music Got its Groove
Hear how American Jewish music evolved from our ancestors’ folk songs, liturgical music, Yiddish theater tunes and early klezmer to the hippest, most multi-faceted Jewish music scene in world history. Andy Muchin’s presentation includes recordings that trace the evolution of Jewish music as it blended with the American musical scene and took off in unexpected new directions. Andy Muchin is the host of Mississippi Public Broadcasting Music Radio's "Sounds Jewish", and is the program coordinator at the Jewish Community Library in San Francsico.
Thanks to the Max and Marilyn Singer Foundation for its continuing support of our Prime Time lunch series.
