We welcome (back) to Congregation Sherith Israel, Ilana Kaufman, CEO of the Jews of Color Initiative (JoCI). Hear the story of the founding of JoCI, including why it is a vital part of today’s Jewish ecosystem. Kaufman will also discuss key learnings from JoCI’s two major research studies, Counting Inconsistencies, a population study estimating 12-15% of American Jews are Jews of Color, and Beyond the Count, the largest study of Jews of Color in the US that provides an unprecedented view of JoC identities and lived experiences. The program will conclude with an engaging discussion about what's next on the horizon for this field and how to join together to collectively create change.
