Israel’s most right-wing coalition in history is threatening to turn Israel into an “illiberal democracy”—one whose values are diametrically opposed to those the state was founded on.
As the government continues its effort to make Israel less democratic and more unequal, Israeli activists are working in the streets, online, and behind the scenes to fight it. Eran Nissan, CEO of NIF grantee Mehazkim, and a leader of Citizens’ HQ is a prominent leader in the effort to expand Israel’s pro-democracy movement.
Join us for a conversation with Eran about how he and his fellow activists are working to grow the movement for equality, justice, and democracy for all in Israel. Mehazkim and Citizens’ HQ’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Haaretz, and NIF’s podcast, Groundwork.
Eran Nissan is the CEO of Mehazkim, and an Israeli peace activist. Prior to joining Mehazkim, Eran headed the education & advocacy department at Peace Now, and has interned at the US Congress as part of 'New Story Leadership.' Eran has a BA in Political Science & Philosophy from Ben Gurion University and is currently working on an MA in Emergency & Disaster Management at Tel Aviv University.
Mehazkim is a progressive digital movement working to promote the values, ideas and solutions of the Israeli left. The grant supports Mehazkim’’s work leading the digital efforts of the Citizens' Headquarters, a coalition of organizations working to counter right-wing attacks on civil society, promote Jewish-Arab political partnership, and conduct media campaigns for progressive issues.

Friday, Nov 14th 6:00p to 8:30p
Our teens have the unique opportunity for dining & dialogue with our Rabbis. These dinners provide a deeper connection with our Rabbis and a chance to explore Judaism’s perspective on topics that interest them. Last year, “relationships” emerged as their theme; courage when dealing with moral problems that teens face, loneliness, navigating friendships, and asking for forgiveness in relationships were just a few things they discussed. Friday night Teens @ Studio dinners are from 6:00-8:30 pm, immediately following our community Kabbalat Shabbat service.
