Friday, March 13, 2020 • 17 Adar 5780
12:00 PM - 2:00 PMMusic served many purposes during the Holocaust / Shoah. It could be a source of comfort, inspiration, solidarity and resistance but was also weaponized as propaganda and incorporated into the apparatus of Nazi terror. This multimedia presentation will survey this range, paying special attention to composers whose lives were cut short.
Former director of the Jewish Music Festival Eleanor Shapiro received her PhD from the Graduate Theological Union in 2018. Her dissertation focused on Jewish cultural festivals that take place currently in Polish small towns.
Prime Time Club is a monthly gathering with lunch and interesting guest speakers for congregants and guests.
