12:00 PM - 2:00 PMNancy Sheftel Gomes discusses the upcoming Sherith Israel trip to the U.S./Mexico border and explains the history, context and intent of the delegation.
Nancy served as director of religious education, youth and early childhood education programs at Sherith Israel from 1999 to 2018 as well as interim executive director from April 2016 to December 2017. Passionate about repairing the world and teaching Judaism through action, Nancy coordinates our twice-a-year Mitzvah Days. Also a congregant and volunteer, she co-directs and supervises HaMotzi and Chicken Soupers, our programs that feed the homeless and infirm. She also serves on the board of directors and joint management group of our Hills of Eternity cemetery.
The delegation will be guided by BorderLinks.org. Since 1987, BorderLinks has been facilitating educational immersion trips for delegations in the Arizona-Sonora region and beyond the border to Chiapas. Prime Time Club is a monthly gathering with lunch and interesting guest speakers for congregants and guests 65 (or getting there) and older. $10 lunch fee; presentation only, free.
