Yom HaShoah Seder

Join Sherith Israel Temple Youth (SITY) in a moving observance of Yom HaShoah, the Jewish day of remembrance for the Holocaust. We’ll gather not just to remember the pain of the Holocaust but also to celebrate our survival as a resilient people. This Seder is completely teen-led. All funds funds go directly to SITY.

-- Preparing for your Seder --

Please have the following items on your table:

  1. A Seder plate with: turnip, potato skin, rosemary, edible flower, date.

  2. Bowl of salt water.

  3. Three cups per place setting: one each of wine, sweet tea and water.

  4. Two mismatched candle sticks with candles.

  5. Empty place setting for the lost.

  6. Yahrzeit candle.

We also recommend enjoying a festive Seder meal. A suggested meal would be: good bread, root vegetable soup with matzo balls, roast chicken, spaetzle, fresh vegetables, and rich European pastries.

SITY has visited 4 major Holocaust museums across the United States. Donations made for this event go toward the costs of these museum programs.
