Yom Kippur Labyrinth Walk with Susan Borkin
Release – Receive – Return
Although one might not think of the labyrinth as a meaningful symbol for Jews, the present-day labyrinth movement provides many potential openings for Jewish applications. This Yom Kippur afternoon, you will have the opportunity to walk a labyrinth and learn to make this ancient archetype meaningful in our contemporary Jewish world.
Like Yom Kippur itself, there are three parts to the labyrinth walk. First, there is Release, walking from the opening of the labyrinth to the center, as we let go of the past year. Next, there is Receive, standing at the center of the labyrinth where we gather the changes to be made in the coming year. Finally, there is Return, walking from the center of the labyrinth back to the opening, where we contemplate implementation for the new year.
We will meet briefly at the synagogue to introduce the labyrinth and then walk together to 2333 Buchanan Street (CPMC) to the outdoor labyrinth.
Susan Borkin is an advanced labyrinth facilitator and faculty member with Veriditas, the international labyrinth training organization.
